Once I pass the class, can I begin work in a dental office?

No, you have to apply to become a registered dental assistant and complete a mandatory short course approved by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE). You must also pass exams in Radiology, Jurisprudence and Infection Control given by the TSBDE. Avant School of Dental Assisting will inform you when the board will offer the mandatory short course and subsequent exams. For further information see

Once I get my state registration, do I need to do anything else?

You need to renew your registration annually with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. The board also requires continuing education classes to retain registration. For further information see

While we are not a job placement agency, we do provide the names of our graduates to Dallas-area dentists and specialists who are seeking new employees.
